About Animal Reiki
Just as Reiki energy can help people it can also help our beloved animal companions, wild animals, farm animals, and shelter animals. Animal Reiki works much the same way; it is channeled through the hands of an attuned Reiki practitioner to the animal or group of animals. Animal Reiki treatments can be given in-person either hands-on or transmitted into an area of a room or even through a distance or virtual session.
What does Animal Reiki help with?
Animal Reiki can help animals who are sick, recovering from surgery, undergoing medical treatment, traumatized, frightened, depressed, and animals who are transitioning. Animal Reiki can also be used to help improve the relationship between the human and the animal, helping the animal to develop trust and receive affection. Animal Reiki is often used at animal shelters to help calm anxious cats and dogs. Reiki energy can be sent distantly to animals out in the wild and to rescued animals who have been adversely effected by natural disasters. Reiki can be given to animals who are domesticated, farm animals, wild animals, small animals, large animals, all animals including birds, fish, reptiles, etc.
Animal Reiki Sessions
The animals themselves determine the length of the Reiki sessions. Animals are sensitive to energy and may want only 15 minutes of Reiki. They may come closer to the Reiki practitioner or they may come close only to move away after a few minutes. Some animals need to get used to the Reiki energy before tolerating longer sessions. Large or potentially dangerous animals require in-person, hands-off treatment or a virtual session. The sessions should be provided in an area where the animal feels most comfortable. Generally, sessions last about 15 minutes, although, if the animal wants more Reiki, the sessions can last longer.
